Dinosaur Golfing

Devin, Derek, Chance and I went mini-golfing in Branson today! It was a blast! Of course I lost, but we just had a great time!

Devin told the boys that for every hole they won, he would give them $0.50, and Derek ended up with $2, and Chance with $1 .. They're sucking us dry!!

This volcano had two holes inside it, and when your ball sunk, the volcano would spit out real fire. It was pretty neat!

This was probably the hole where I sank the ball, into the garden bed. (I'm bad at mini-golf)

I've got three dang handsome fellas in my life!  Can't vacation last forever??

Staining the fence

We are loving having a fence, and Zoey loves it too! We want it to last forever! So we waterproofed and stained it this week. Last weekend was too wet and rainy to be able to do it, so we took two evenings out of our week and finished it up! It's a really dark, "transparent acorn" Thompson's water seal, and I think it looks super great! Pictures of the other side coming in the next couple weeks'! :)

Trooper Zoey

We took a 7 hour drive to Branson last Saturday, and Zoey was a champ. She is usually super scared and anxious during car rides. She shakes and pants the entire time. And she did start off that way, but quickly improved!

Barbara, this is for you! Look how well she did!!

SHE SLEPT IN THE CAR!

Meet Nani, the Mazda

After the hail storm from hell, we waited 6 days before we could even get an appointment to have Kea adjusted, and immediately we went shopping for a new car. We new we wanted a Mazda .. Plus, I get a pretty hefty discount for being an employee at Woodhouse Auto Family!

Devin definitely did his homework and research to make sure we were making the right decision.

And we found one we loved.

She's a Mazda CX-5, used, sport trim, 24,000 miles and beautiful.

We definitely made lemonade out of lemons and bought a car that we will love for years, and will work for children someday!

Oh, and her name is Nani. Hawaiian for beautiful. 😍

Hail Storm from Hell!

The day that my dad left, we got up at 5:30 in the morning and went to breakfast before work. My dad is a HUGE breakfast lover, and I enjoy it every now and then .. When someone else is making it for me :)

Then he left, and all hell broke loose in Blair, Nebraska .. Where I work.

We were all aware that there was supposed to be some pretty nasty storms rolling through the area, and our managers advised us to work through lunch so we could leave an hour early .. And get home before the storms.

At 4 o'clock, I looked at the radar, and seeing that the storms were supposed to go north of us, and I had to travel south to get home, AND it wasn't supposed to even get near us until 6pm. Needless to say, I wasn't worried at all (coming from the fearless tornado-alley raised part of me) .. So I start heading to the car. Right before I get there, there was a HUGE gust of wind, and I mean knock you off your feet huge ..

I continued to get into my car and not worry .. Calling my mom to check the weather channel and see if I should even worry.

Then, it begins to hail. It started off as normal, non-threatening hail, but quickly got huge, golf ball sized, and loud on the roof of my car. I hadn't even made it out of the parking lot yet. So I turn back into our car lot (I work at a car dealership), and park about 5 ft. away from our back door and hope for the best.

It slowly got bigger, and bigger, baseball sized hail was now coming from the sky. Then, sitting in my car, terrified, crying hysterically to my poor mother over the phone, I feel something hit me in the back, them heard my back windshield suddenly shatter. I started getting hit more often with the huge hail, and decided that I HAD to get out of my car and inside.

Any Okie-born person knows that that's a big no-no. You stay where your head is COVERED in hail storms like this. However, I was convinced there was a tornado wrapped in all this rain and hail, and I just knew I had to get inside.

So I grabbed a plastic cereal box that I use as a trash can for my car, packed up my purse, keys, and important stuff, covered my head with the box, and ran as fast as I could to the door.

Luckily, I made it, wasn't hurt, and there was no tornado in the midst of the hail.

I came into our parts department with glass in my hair, soaking wet, shivering and balling my eyes out. A co-worker brought me a warm Tshirt, and another brought me a sweater. We waited.

Then, when it was all gone, we went outside.

Here's an example of how large our hail was

This is my car (after we doctored her up)

It still breaks my heart to see Kea like this. Eric bought her for Devin and I as a wedding gift, while we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii, we named her Kea. Meaning "white" in Hawaiian.

She traveled with us since the second we stepped back from our honeymoon until now. She took us to Dallas, Utah, Nauvoo, Illinios, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. She was still a baby, and I'm still really sad about losing her.

My backseat covered in glass and soaked in water. You can see on the floor the trash can that, at least I'm convinced, saved my life, or at least saved me from a  trip to the hospital.

Then --- as you may remember, I noted that I work at a dealership. So, we walked onto the lot to see the damage ..

All of these brand new, once beautiful cars, totaled. It's been almost 3 weeks, and we're still cleaning up glass, wrapping windshields, and sorting through which ones are and are not legal to sell. Yes, I said sell.

And you wouldn't believe it, but there are 5x as many customers coming in, wanting hail damaged vehicles than we had before the storm!!

So, it's been busy, but it's just going to get worse. We've been told we'll most likely be working overtime and weekends in order to get through the amount of deals we'll be getting.

However unfortunate it was that I lost my beautiful, new, great car .. My co-workers homes were destroyed.

So, I had it bad .. But they have it worse. And I'm grateful that no more than my car was destroyed, and that Heavenly Father was looking out for me that afternoon.

Fence time!

We are really blessed people to have such awesome family on both sides who are so willing to help us do all of our crazy home projects and teach us the tricks of the trade.

This time, my dad came out and helped us build our backyard fence. We rented an auger for a day, and dug out all of the holes, cemented the posts into place, and then let them sit overnight.

Devin and I both got really REALLY sunburned, but dad just stayed tan. Why didn't I get those genes from my dad?

You can see Devin's poor calves from these couple photos .. They are still peeling. Poor guy.

Here, we hit a sprinkler line, and dad fixed it almost as fast as he broke it :)
Again, what would we do without him? Probably pay hundreds of dollars for a professional to fix something that cost $6 for my dad to fix.

You can see my sunburn here, I wore a sleeveless shirt to work in, and my shoulders were literally purple. Needless to say, the second day I wore sunscreen (and sleeves) !!

The pups went crazy in the backyard once the fence was totally up and they were free to roam! It's such a big difference being able to just let Zoey out and not have to stay and chain her/unchain her. She loves it, I love it, and she gets all her energy out chasing the birds and fireflies!

As you may remember, at Christmas, I picked up a pup for my parents that they surprised the boys with for Christmas .. Sally. This is her, she's gotten huge, and lanky. She's even bigger than Zoey!

I Heart Wicked!

For Christmas, Devin bought me tickets to Wicked, and the time FINALLY came! It was the longest wait ever for a Christmas present :) but totally worth the wait!

I absolutely love plays and musicals, and Devin knows and appreciates that :) he also loves plays, and having been to lots of Broadway plays and musicals in his life, he knew I'd love this one.

Boy was he right, I've been singing the songs since we left the theater, and can't wait for my next one :)

Waiting for the play to start!

the stage!

We went on a date to Vicace beforehand.

Super yummy "contemporary" Italian

And we get free parking at ConAgra.

He's handsome!

Come back, Elphaba!

Project Bathroom

During my month of free time, while I was searching for a job, I got to do a few awesome home projects, this being one of them .. Small, cheap, but a huge difference!

Our little half bathroom downstairs is boring .. So I wanted to make it prettier ..

I framed the mirror! And it's beautiful :)

I'm grateful for friends

I want to do a quick post expressing how grateful I am for this woman!

Laura has been a huge blessing to me throughout this most recent move to Nebraska. I haven't had any true gal friends since high school and it's been pretty hard on me.

I lost my job in April, and for about a month, I struggled to find a new job and and had a difficult time figuring out what to do with my life, Laura was there to keep me entertained and understand that Heavenly Fathers got my back and that it happened for a reason.

She's hilarious, as you can tell ^^

Thank you for making our venture in Nebraska bearable for this girl!

Eye Doc

LATE POST ALERT!

Devin and I went to our first eye doctor appointments together since we've been married. Both of our eyes were dilated, we looked like crazy eyes freaks, and we both scored some super awesome glasses.

And we're celebrating the first appointment with no vision degression ever for both of us! Yay for equally bad eyes as the last time we went to the doc!
